Depending on your study sources, this Name is rendered Jehovah, Yahweh, YHWH, YHVH and in English Bibles LORD & LORD. Without vowels, it is the Hebrew letters Yod-Hei-Vav-Hei which is simply, YHVH. The first mention is Genesis 2:4--not "The Name" alone but compounded with Elohim. The revelation of this first mention is that everytime Jehovah is used it always carries the foundational fact that Jehovah is God Eternal, Creator, Sovereign God, i.e., Jehovah is ELohim in all the action, relationship, power--all the anything and everything of this context:

In the scope of the Bible, Jehovah is always in "relation" to "these" generations of the heavens and the earth; Jehovah is always in connection to a peculilar double time stamp, "when" and "in the day." Furthermore, Jehovah is intricately connected to "these" generations of the heavens and the earth by the act and fact of having "made" them. God used two completely different words here. Create is the word bara' and has to do with creation as to with being fashioned, and the purpose and position, whereas, made is the word `asah, a more hands on, producing, that connotes purpose and relation--that relation being demonstrated to be one of covenant--an everlasting covenant.
